November’s Cornucopia: Persimmons, Raisins, Tomatoes and Reflections of Gratitude

November’s Cornucopia: Persimmons, Raisins, Tomatoes and Reflections of Gratitude

It’s fall, and that means it’s Persimmon and Grape harvest time here in California’s Central Valley. If you drive down the country roads ‘round here, you just might spot an orchard brimming with Bella Viva Orchards’ Certified Organic Persimmons and those of our longtime neighbor-partner who grows the same variety – the bright, sweet, super-flavorful Hachiya Persimmon. These jewel-hued Persimmons spent the summer basking in the warm California sun and are now perfect for harvesting. If you’ve had our Certified Organic Dried Persimmons, you know what we’re talking about! They’re Mother Nature’s answer to pumpkin spice – without any additives whatsoever! Lucky you!

And right down the road, our grower-partners have just finished harvesting a nice crop of Certified Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins! These partners grow beautiful, flavorful and very healthful grapes - and they share our values for farming and family. A nice plus is that they’re local, so we’re producing great foods while leaving a gentler footprint on the environment. We said healthful, and these Raisins sure are! Just do a search and you’ll confirm your hunches that experts tell us that Raisins are on the superfoods list!

Now, did someone say Tomatoes? If you just fell out of your chair, climb back on and continue reading. At Bella Viva Orchards, we’ve offered Certified Organic Dried Tomatoes for a long time. We just haven’t given the worthy, versatile Tomato a lot of press. We say it’s time for this fruit to enjoy its day in the sun (yep, bad pun time). This fruit, most often enjoyed in savory ways, has earned its reputation for being a superfood because it’s high in antioxidants and nutrients and low in calories. They’re not afraid to be different from their stone fruit cousins, so we say you shouldn’t be afraid to celebrate their uniqueness by adding them to your meal plans! Hungry for those Tomatoes? Rehydrate ‘em in hot water or broth, drizzle them with some good olive oil and add them to your favorite pasta, fish or chicken recipe. Get creative and explore the possibilities!

We are humbled by the bounty that we are able to harvest. We’re thankful for every delivery that comes in from our trusted grower-partners. With this humility comes a strong commitment to help heal the earth by using sustainable and regenerative practices. These practices include growing cover crops around the trees to create a habitat for beneficial insects that help keep the trees healthy. We also mulch the tree cuttings and fruits pulled off during the growing and thinning process right back into the soil, adding to the ability for the soil to retain moisture and release nutrients. We love what the earth allows us to grow, so we give that love right back!

About gratitude: Many of us consider November a month to observe gratitude. It’s more than a current buzzword. It’s how we feel every year, every harvest and every day. We feel it when we look at the orchards that surround us. We feel it when those beautiful, health-filled shipments of awe-inspiring fruits and nuts come in from our grower partners. We feel it when we spend time with our family and friends. We’re grateful to have added many exciting new products for you to enjoy over this past year. When we have the option, we opt to embrace that life is good! How ‘bout you? What comes to mind when you reflect on your own gratitude?

If you’ve paused to be grateful, we hope it left you feeling warm and content. If that gratitude included being able to enjoy so many incredible, healthful foods we’re glad, ‘cause from now through the end of November, you’ll enjoy a nice 25 percent off Bella Viva Orchards’ Certified Organic Dried Persimmons – that’s $14.99 per pound if you don’t want to pull out your calculator. We’re also celebrating a thankful November by offering you our Certified Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins for 35 percent off, or a stock-up worthy $5.19 per pound! We’re still feelin’ the love and want to share some more great deals with you! About those Certified Organic Dried Tomatoes? They’re 10 percent off from now through the end of this month. Also in the cornucopia of 10 percent off savings are our completely additive-free, GMO-free Certified Organic Dried Banana Slices, Certified Organic Tropical Trail Mix, Certified Organic Medjool Dates, Certified Organic Red Walnuts and our Certified Organic Dried Cranberries. With these great savings we say it’s a great time to restock your pantry and grab some extras to share with your family and friends.

Happy November, friends! We’re filled with gratitude that you include Bella Viva Orchards’ beautiful fruits and nuts in your life!
